I believe that every person has the power to make the world a little brighter. Kindness doesn’t need to be grand or complicated. It grows in simple moments: a smile, a thank‑you, a thoughtful note, a shared story, and when we practice kindness together, it becomes a habit that shapes our classrooms, homes, and communities.
Years ago, I created the Kindness Challenge as a way to promote kindness in our school. Now I share it with you to build empathy, gratitude, and connection through small daily actions. The challenge starts on Friday, Feb. 13 and each day focuses on one meaningful act of kindness and a story to share the message.
Whether you’re a teacher, parent, caregiver, or school community, this challenge is easy to join.
💛 What to Expect Over the 8 Days
Each day includes an act of kindness activity and story designed to spark reflection and action. Some days focus on showing appreciation, others on building connection, and some on celebrating the people who make our world safer, happier, and more inclusive.
Every activity is child‑friendly, classroom‑friendly, and heart‑friendly.
🌸 Why Kindness Matters
Kindness builds confidence. Kindness strengthens relationships. Kindness helps children feel seen, valued, and connected.
Stories help us deepen that understanding. When children hear stories about empathy, courage, and compassion, they begin to see themselves as helpers and changemakers. That’s the heart of Kindness & Stories: pairing meaningful books with meaningful actions.
💗 Day 8 Highlight: Wear Pink for Pink Shirt Day
On Day 8, we join together in a powerful act of unity—wearing pink to stand up for kindness and inclusion. Pink Shirt Day began with two students who stood up for a classmate who was being bullied for wearing pink. Their simple act of solidarity sparked a movement that continues to inspire millions.
By wearing pink, we remind children that kindness is courageous, and standing up for others is something we can all do.
